Street Football World

Germany Welcome CAPEC as New Network Partner with the Visit of Sarah Bagel, Communication Manager
Sarah Bagel arrived CAPEC head office at 11:46 a.m on the 14th Dec.2009 alongside Mr Thomas Orock of United Action for Children (UAC). A brief introductory session was held as Sarah Bagel met with the staff of CAPEC Kumba. During the introductory session, she gave a detail of the objectives of Street Football World. After which she asked some questions on how CAPEC functions out of their main activity and some of the difficulties encountered. The programmes coordinator responded to the questions while the Director gave a detail concluded. During this period, she met with the CAPEC team during their training session. Even though she`s not a football analyst, she could appreciate the coherency in the passes of the ball within the players. During the training session, she gathered that our major problem is gaining parents approval for their kids to leave their estate work to play football which at this point they see it fruitless. Reason being that these children help their parents work at the plantation as the parents are paid by the surface area covered.
Further, the programmes coordinator made the network communication manager of street football world to understand that we have some difficulties in meeting up with necessary materials for training like balls, nets, jerseys, bus, and above all, if they can facilitate us with trainer of trainers as the Association of coaches is affiliated to CAPEC.
From the football field, we drove to the nearest camp were some of the children we train come from. There Sarah Bagel was able to stare at child labor in the face as small children less than six years had to do more than two kilometers to fetch drinking water from the nearest stream and further she had access to the rubber plantation were she saw how latex was being extracted from the rubber tree before taken for processing.
From the plantation, we went back to the office were we had the last phase of our work session with Sarah Bagel. The session that left Sarah Bagel much more satisfied, ended at about 4:10 p.m after which we left for lunch at Kanton motel. At 5:47 p.m, Sarah Bagel and Mr. Thomas Orock left for Buea as another meeting was slated for Bamenda on the 18/12/09.
