It was a long walk from the 20th May Boulevard to the Congress Hall, thousands of Cameroonian from different field turn up to celebrate the day. The Minister of Public Health, Minister of Youth Affair were all present. Civil Societies organization, Diplomatic Core and Government Officials, secondary school student also turn in their numbers. It was a colorful day as each one puts on T-Shirts distributed by different International Organization and some UN agencies. In addition to the event organized by the Cameroonian government and other international organization, CAPEC also organized some community events. One of CAPEC’s purposes since its creation has been to objectively join the global, national and regional response programs to halt the spread of HIV infection. During this week, CAPEC organizes a series of activities in communities geared towards sensitizing with HIV/AIDS messages, advocating behavioral change and responsible behavior as well as encouraging best practices in a bid to contribute in the world’s efforts to end the pandemic.
These activities included among others:
- Radio talks on the theme and the aspects of the project that focus on this theme
- Voluntary counselling and testing in the event venue at Nkolfoulou Village
- Sensitisation talks in schools, social groups and gatherings geared at reaching out to as many people as possible.
