CAPEC, as one of the implementing organizations, was present at the launching of the national campaign for the free distribution of 8.654.731 long lasting insecticidal nets to all Cameroonian families as a means of preventing malaria.
This event took place on the 20th of August 2011 at the Multi-purposed Sport Complex. It was launched by the Prime Minister, Philemon Yang, who was representing the Head of State, Paul Biya. The campaign, which is part of the project “Scaling up malaria control for impact 2010-2014”, is estimated to cost FCFA 34 billion and is financed by the Global Fund, the Cameroon government and others.
The Prime Minister, before handing over nets to two families, called on all stakeholders to ensure the success of the campaign. All families residing in Cameroon, irrespective of nationality or creed, can receive the nets free of charge.
